BYOB Earth Day Pick-up

Braving damp weather and drizzle, six hearty members of BYOB-MidCoast braved the elements to conduct an Earth Day trash pick up along  two sections of Bath Road in Brunswick.  The group collected 12 overstuffed bags of litter consisting of a lot of plastic bags and film, disposable cups, Styrofoam containers, cardboard and a sundry items including a pulverized orange traffic cone, a shoe and even a garage door opener.

The group estimates that it picked up about 125 plastic bags.  With recent passage of ordinances in Brunswick and Topsham to limit single-use plastic bags and Styrofoam food and beverage containers locally, BYOB hopes that there will be less plastic ban and Styrofoam litter to pick up on Earth Day next year.
